Baked beans are almost a staple for the most part of the United States. This dish is yummy and easy to prepare, and with so many variants, you just can’t go wrong. You can use lima beans, red beans, black beans, or even string or bush beans. Baked beans is practically a “your choice” dish.
Bush beans are an easy choice for this dish because these legumes can be grown in your own backyard. Practically maintenance free, these vegetables are a favorite of weekend farmers because you just plant them, stick a trellis in the ground and they grow. These creepers don’t need any fancy tending.
A freshly harvested batch of bush beans have soft seeds and fleshy pods. Fresh bush beans are a bit soft, and in preparing baked beans with them, it is preferred that you dry them out first, so the beans would be a bit hard. Again, it’s your option if you want to have fresh soft beans or dried hard beans.
